Will anyone know that we are coming to therapy?

All information provided by you during therapy sessions is legally confidential to persons or agencies outside of therapy. Such information can only be shared with your written permission.

Information provided during therapy sessions will be available to the treatment team, including other therapists at the CFCT, Center assistants, and therapist-supervisors.

There are certain situations in which your therapist is legally bound to reveal information obtained during therapy to other persons or agencies without your permission. These situations are as follows:

  1. If your therapist believes that you are in imminent danger to yourself.
  2. If you threaten grave bodily harm or death to another person or directly endanger the life of another.
  3. If your therapist suspects abuse or neglect of any child(ren).
  4. If your therapist is ordered to release information by a court of law.
  5. If you pose a threat to national security.

How long does the therapy last?

Each therapy session is approximately 50 minutes. The CFCT offers an unlimited number of therapy sessions to our clients. This means that there is no minimum or maximum number of sessions that you are required to attend. Because we understand the commitments of time, finances, and energy, we work from a brief therapy model.

How do I make an appointment?

To arrange an appointment, call (970) 491-5991. The Center coordinator will be able to answer your questions, provide further information, and schedule an appointment for you with a therapist. Messages left on our answering machine are confidential and are returned promptly by the Center coordinator.

Therapy sessions are typically scheduled within one week of the initial phone call. All inquiries are treated confidentially.

Who are the Therapists and Supervisors?

Therapy services are provided by graduate students of the CSU Marriage and Family Therapy Program.* Selected from a competitive national pool, each student-therapist possesses unique experiences and clinical competencies.

Therapists are supervised by faculty of the CSU MFT Program who are licensed family therapists holding approved supervisory status in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Our clients benefit from the focused attention and combined experiences of their therapist and their therapist's clinical supervisors.

* The CSU MFT Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, 1133 15th Street, NW, Ste. 300, Washington, DC, 20005, (202) 452-0109.
